I visited with Tommy twice in the 1970s, once in Tulsa (1974) when he was a bus-ministry expert for the AG and once in Hawaii (Easter Week '78 when he was a youth camp speaker there). It is ironic that many AG ministers can recognize the spirit of lying by exercising the Holy Spirit's gift of discernment of spirits; yet, when it comes to ex-gay lies and even Haggard lying that he has changed, they quench the Holy Spirit in that area. Haggard admitted to a reliable Colorado News Reporter that he had had those "urges" all of his life. The General Council of the Assemblies of God does support Exodus International. The irony of all of this is that Exodus was started in a Pentecostal church and the first ex-gay testimony which I read not long after it started was published in the AG's Pentecostal Evangel magazine.
