Karin, you may also wish to contact PFLAG (parents and friends of lesbians and gays):

http://community.pflag.org/Page.aspx?pid=194&srcid=-2

They can give you some information on the parents of transgendered children.

Karin, while things may not work out for some transexuals for many of us it does. I am with the most wonderful man I could imagine whom I've known since high school and I've never been happier. It can work out this way for your daughter too. If you'd like you can email me at priya dot lynn at sasktel dot net

Our son is 23 and on 3-30-09 had gender surgery along with 11 other surgeries that same day.And not to mention this was done in Mexico. To him, this is probably the last step to his fulfilled happiness and completeness. My husband and I are believers and my convictions of Gods creation on male and female are stronger than ever.I have seen Jon since the surgery and prior to.We do not preach to him but there is a lot of pain and pretending on our part. Though this is not what we believe to be the way he should live his life, these are his decisions. There is no rejection we show or reveal to him. I believe he feels exceptec and I am the one who he keeps in contact with and I keep in contact as well. He asks no questions, either,so we offer no thoughts. We refer to Jon as Michelle, she and her.I have bought him female clothing and jewelry. What does one parent do besides reject? We have met his partner, and friends and treat them with kindness and respect. My question is, where are the other parents like us?I am finding transgender parents or parents who believe thier child is transexual as early as 5 or 6.I would like to hear parents in our postion and their stories but have had no succsess.I want to know about their (adult) child and how they- the child , have continued this lifesyle. It's my understanding the future is not a pretty one and am highly concerned for Jon.A present can be dressed up any way on the outside but,the inside is still the same even altered with hormones. The nucleus is still the same.God makes no mistakes or there is no God,and then we are all in trouble.Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.Thank you for allowing me to send my sos and cry for help.Sincerely,Karin
