Fear the Fatal Anal Wart

whatcott24.jpgYou can always count on anti-gays – especially of the ex-gay variety – to spice up your week with a healthy dose of crazy.

Take, for example, Bill Whatcott, a former teen prostitute who is running for mayor of Edmonton, Alberta on an anti-gay campaign. Per the Winnipeg Sun, Whatcott showed up at the candidate registration wearing a shirt with anti-gay stick figures and had this to say:

“Homosexuality is killing young men with diseases like anal warts, anal gonorrhoea and anal cancer — you’re not going to get that living the lifestyle of a Ukrainian,” he told Sun Media yesterday.

I’m not sure what Ukranians have to do with it, but by all means Fear the Fatal Anal Wart.

Oh, and while you’re at it, Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!

I often hear anti-gay folks say that homosexuality is no more or less a sin than adultery, gluttony, etc…So, could someone explain to me why I never see any Christians sporting shirts that say divorce is a sin?

Because enough people get divorced and remarried that they just shake their heads and move on.

Plus many of these evangelicals are remarried.

That is one the defenses I have prepared if my Southern Baptist Grandmother ever lays into me about being gay. I have two cousins who both had more than one kid out of wedlock, and 3 other family members have been divorced. If I’m living a sinful lifestyle, I don’t appear to be the only one.

The Ukrainian comment makes me think this guy is more of a wacky crank than anything. Just plain wacky-wacky, not ex-gay Cameron-esque wacky. Fatal anal warts does have a certain cadence to it though, I’ll give him that.

The fanny-pack also concerns me.

Seriously, they guy looks like one of them half brained goofy types. I mean who in their right mind would go out in public with a t shirt like that? Fringe candidate, dat.

Are you suggesting that the two are necessarily mutually exclusive?

OK, Fiddler on the Roof took place in the Ukraine, and all those girls, no matter what their “sin” was, waited till marriage for sex. They bid their time by singing songs and dancing in choreographed routines instead.

Makes perfect sense. If our kids sing about matchmakers instead of having sex, they won’t get any anal warts.

mr. whatcott must be slipping.

Somebody please remind him that it’s obesity that is The public health concern.

Even among Ukrainians, I don’t doubt.

Bill Whatcott has his problems.

He had a hard life, found Jesus and now makes life hard for others.
Whatcott is his own worst enemy.

Saskatchewan neo-conservatives know Bill has a few loose screws, and when you see them backing away, it’s a sure bet those bad drugs he indulged in back in the day are kicking back.

He wound up on a clip on The Daily Show about a year ago.
Bill needs attention like a fish needs water.
I’m surprised given the amount he owes in CHRC fines he was allowed to register.

You know just because someone says they are a gay prostitute does not mean they are gay. I’ve heard of straight hustlers that have gay sex because of the easy money they can make. It’s a money issue so they can get the next fix on drugs. They were never gay to begin with.

This according to 365gay:

Whatcott has previously said that until he found God at the age of 18, he was a gay prostitute who turned tricks to support a drug habit.

http://www.365gay.com/Newscon07/09/091607edmonton.htm

So my question is this, was he really gay to begin with? Can he claim after his conversion he is now ex-gay even though it is suspect (IMO) he was gay in the first place? It sounds to me like he wasn’t but claims he was because he had sex with men in order to, again, get his fix.

And turning to God at 18 makes you wonder how long he was out on the street supporting his habit. And by the picture he looks as if he hasn’t been 18 in quite a long time.

Ken R,

Ah, but you forget. In the language of anti-gay activism, you don’t actually have to have been gay to have “walked away from the homosexual lifestyle”. Cuz, ya know, there’s no orientation only behavior.

And one article gave his age as 39.

And you don’t actually have to have been a conservative Christian to have “walked away from the bigoted conservative Christian lifestyle”. Cuz, you know, there’s no orientation only behavior.

I wish they wouldn’t keep saying its not a choice when it is! ;)

And one article gave his age as 39.

Damn, time hasn’t been kind to him. He’s younger than me. I guess anti-gay activism puts quite a few years on a person.

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International.
