My thoughts exactly, Emily K. What they call "traditional family values" are only traditional for a handful of decades. The true traditional practices include what you said, plus arranged marriages, and marriage in the teens, etc.

I would especially like to know what they think of a man and woman living together for a year before their official wedding. No sex during that time, but otherwise acting as if man and wife. Would they agree to that as a "traditional family value"? Well, it is called betrothal, and it was what Mary and Joseph were doing...

The fact is, the family has been changing and growing and evolving since the word came into existence. Look at all the Biblical definitions of family relations. They include concubines, multiple wives, widows marrying brother-in-laws... Not only that, until this past century, marriage was not for love - it was for legal purposes only, like dowry and property. Plus, what about extended families that include grandparents and aunts/uncles? what about half-siblings from second marriages that occur after the first spouse has died? What about God-parents? I don't get where this "natural family" is established in history, other than in fairy-tale 1950's America: and even THEN it was a myth.

How does creating more families contribute to destroying the 'natural' family, if expanding what family is means destroying it, then we should definately halt science in its tracks, and we should've long ago never let interracial marriages exist nor expand freedom to those who were in slavery. Ye i know, using the same rhetoric, but it fits so well to this ^^.
If we get tired the same thing over and over, might as well give them a dose of the same medicine. Sadly, something tells me someone needs to do something radical because we are getting nowhere, fast.

If the natural family is so superior, what have they got to worry about from any other form of family?

They sound like Dominionists. Which is a bit more scarier than just your regular old-time fundamentalists.

It seems "The Watchers" need to be watched themselves.

"We are against cohabitation, divorce, abortion, adultery and other behaviors that weaken the marriage-based society on which civilization depends. But we are especially focused against homosexuality, because those who practice this self-destructive vice, and have organized themselves into a political movement, are the chief enemies of the natural family."

Wow, they sound like they'd be a lot of fun at a party! No wonder hardly anyone showed up!!
