Regardless of whether the shooter is gay, the right-wing machine will still milk this incident to whip up fear of “Christian persecution” and to raise more money for projects that will ultimately target gays.

However, if the shooter is not gay, I still predict that the Watchmen on the Walls will somehow find a connection between the gay community and these shootings. I’m sure Scott Lively will use the events to claim that “the world hates Christians, and the leading haters of Christians are gays. So, it’s another example of what the world will be like if they’re in charge. That’s why we need to stop them.”

Or something like that.

Today we set aside our religious and political difference to pray for God’s peace on the family, friends, and community of the victims of these brutal and senseless crimes.
