Numerous individuals heard Rockwell brag about writing this material over the years. It was well known at the time that Rockwell was the author and was pushing Paul to adopt a racist perspective to appeal to the bigoted Right (Rockwell is very comfortable with those groups to say the least). While I have doubts that Paul is himself a racist I have no doubt that he knew what was being published out of his office. His campaign manager handle the printing. His wife and daughter were on the staff and this went on for years. He knew.

Ron doesn't write the books put out in his name. He has ghost writers and always has had them. Some of the short stuff in his newsletter he could write himself, it wasn't very intellectual. Anything that required more than a cursory examination went to a ghost writer. But Paul bears responsibility in the end. And his continuing connections with Rockwell indicate he has not repudiated the author of that crap.

Branden,

Are you suggesting he managed to doctor the faxes for 17 years without anybody noticing? Your speculation doesn't have any evidence to support it that I can see, and the idea that Dondero -- or anyone -- could get by with it for 17 years is, frankly, not the least bit convincing.

But it does seem that a very vocal segment of Ron Paul supporters, like Ron Paul himself, are enamored with wildly stretched and unsupported conspiracy theories. This one is probably as good as any, by those standards anyway. But not by mine. Speculations without supporting evidence just doesn't cut it. Simply saying "it could have happened" isn't even close to saying it did.

I mean, where was I between 1978 and 1996?

Paul exhaustively reviewed the final drafts to the newsletter, and so didn't see the need to read the published copies as well.

Something happened to those final drafts while they lay in the outgoing fax tray, waiting to be faxed to the printer.

Eric Dondero seems to know a lot about the fax headers . . . .

Be more than happy to give you names of witnesses who can verify this.

Really, this is all so silly. There is no mystery at all here. All this came out in the Houston and Austin media in our campaign in 1996.

I guess, some reporters are too lazy to go back that far and check the sources.
