Where was this outrage when everyone was ooing and aahing over Oz for being a great gay blockbuster show?

Most of the “gay” content in Oz (including the primary gay relationship) was based on rape or coercion and manipulation for sex.

I agree with Mr. Kincaids outrage with the LA Times writer (his claiming that child rape is a gay storyline is particularly offensive) but I think there is a whole lot of hypocrisy coming from our community on this when our noses aren’t exactly clean.

The movie had no gay subtext, like the book, only a rape scene.

Wow! That’s really alarming this reporter would equate rape with regular sexuality. Rape is never about sex. It’s about force and power. I’ve seen the movie and there’s nothing “gay” about that scene. It’s awful and causes immense pain for all the characters involved.

well – if the LA Times would care to declare that any incidence of m-f rape is a heterosexual context –

but hets tend to be disinclined to consider that rape is a relevant reflection of their sexual expression.

This is like saying the book “Songmaster” has “gay” themes b/c there are pedophiles who want to rape the main character (who has the look of a boy) in it. One other character in the book even describes himself as half gay, BECAUSE he has attractions to the boy.

Um, wanting to have sex with a boy isn’t homosexuality. It’s kid-f##king.
