Warren I am shocked (excuse the pun) to read that you believe that electrical aversion therapy has not been used to cure homosexuality. I can assure you that at the age 0f 15 in 1964 I was subjected to this horrific, nightmarish treatment. It took place at the Digby Hospital in Devon (foreboding and victorian-enough in itself to frighten a young lad) but I believe the treatment was developed and fine tuned at the Maudsley Hospital in London...for years I thought it was the Castle Unit of that hospital but I later discovered it was the Cassell Unit. I was also given ECT, not for depression but as an additional treatment. All of this was organised by my parents and the psychiatrist who had treated me after I took an overdose of pills due to me not understanding my gay feelings. The treatment did not work and I am now happily gay but with very vivid memories of those treatments. So YES Warren be absolutly assured that I, and other youngsters at the same time, were treated in this barbaric way.

<I>"let me lay to rest the accusation ... I have never found evidence of electroshock treatment being used anyway.</i>

Guess He wasn't there, hmmm?

I'm willing to open a dialogue with those interested. 1st of all, I'm not a repair therapist, nor an expert. OK, there are alot of crazy remedies people try to push. You can also find crazy remedies for weight loss, smoking etc. But let's be honest. What you raise are sideissues. You're against repair therapy for homosexuality & GID no matter what the success is. Now I know you'll raise the same points that I've heard before, but please give your thoughts w/o the personal attacks. Thanks.

Word-of-mouth accounts indicate that as late as 1999-2000 BYU was referring homosexual students to off-campus "vomit treatment," All the while threatening expulsion or freezing student transcripts for non-compliance with treatment.
