Well, Jason, there is that to consider.

What if you have a deity that is all knowing and all powerful, but at the same time is, by deitical standards, not particularly competent?

James Branch Cabell explored that theme repeatedly in the many books comprising the biography of Manuel. Sadly, no one reads Cabell anymore.

Ben, there's a futurama episode where Bender gets shot out of the ship and they can't catch up wit him. While floating in space, he's pelted by meteorites that have little alien people on them. They think he saved them and he becomes a "god" to them.
1st he tries to fullfill his selfish desires and the people suffer. Then he tries to help them directly, which goes horribly wrong and the people suffer. He tries not helping them and they are consumed by infighting on the best way to worship bender and end up annhialating each other.

Bender then meets the real God who explains that the best way to work is through indirect and subtle ways. God says, "if you do things right, they won't be able to tell whether you've done anything at all."

Look at the way we worship and destroy our own politicians and celebrities, I doubt God would fair much better.

I wish he had the same appreciation for caring what goes on his name. If Iam going to have a deity, I just wish it owuld be one that takes the job seriously and is NOT one who thinks he's a comedian, ironic or no.

It always amazes me how many uber-phobes have gay kids. It proves to me that God has a huge appreciation for irony.
