I see this continuing outside the US, which will eventually become a problem in the US.

With our &quot;global&quot; economy and all the ambassadors and what not -- we&#039;ll eventually find ourselves in a situation where our country is stunted by this.  Dignitaries may not wish to come to America because we do not recognize their partners as part of their familiy.  Corporations may  not wish to continue their &quot;American&quot; branches because of this, or may run into other problems.
Just need the wife of a lesbian ambassador from South Africa to go into the hospital somewhere in the US, that would be enough to spark a problem.

We rely a lot on imports and foreign labor, this is going to get ugly if we don&#039;t get our butts in gear and grow up.</description>
