Laura,

There are two basic approaches to homosexuality by those who find it sinful.

In one approach, a message of redemption is offered to those who also believe that their behavior is sin. Such an approach focuses on the lives of individuals and is not much interested in social structure and political power. Jesus embodied this approach to that which He considered sin. (There is Scriptural evidence that Jesus was not condemning of gay people, but that is for those who have ears to hear and that debate is not the subject of this thread)

The other approach is to punish the person who is homosexual. Often this is couched in terms of punishing behavior while loving individuals, but invariably behavior is irrelevant and the punishment it meted out to the homosexual person regardless of their behavior. Such punishment can include denial of employment, housing, and public services; barring from serving in the military (along with the various benefits that military persons receive); exclusion from hate crimes laws; exclusion from anti-discrimination laws; exclusion from any form of recognition of the lifepartner of their choice including immigration, insurance, medical decisions, inheritance and many many others.

Basically, you have a decision to show love or to show punishment (cast stones). Some claim to do both... but only seem to have stones in their hands.

Sally Kern is an extreme example of a stone caster. She was quick with lies and demonization. She actively engages in efforts to exclude gay people from simple public services (library books that include gay characters, for example). She claims that gay people seeking equality (the "homosexual agenda") are a worse threat to our nation than islamacists seeking destruction (terrorism).

Kern is unquestionably a stone thrower.

Stephen Black came and spoke in favor of Kern's extreme comments. He even added his own.

Yes, Laura, Stephen Black is casting stones.

I'm glad Kern is proud of herself because I sincerely hope other anti-gay figures, especially politicians will start to speak up for their beliefs. They're only as successful as they are because they're politically correct enough to convince some people that reparative therapy and anti-gay legislation is "loving the sinner." If they would actually say everything they think, decent people everywhere would kick them out of office, churches, and respect.
