In her appearance on "The Surreal Life" a few years ago, the producers trumped up a signing they'd scheduled for her in a West Hollywood gay bookstore as some kind of battleground in the show's previews, but in the actual episode it was more of a heartwarming love-fest between her, the fans, and the rest of the show's cast. I wonder if young Jay picked up any of his open-mindedness from his mother on this issue. In any case, he sounds like a good guy.
