Joel-there's a classic urban/rural split in Oregon. The Portland metro area (and to a lesser extent the more populous area along the I-5 corridor heading down to Eugene) is much more liberal than much of the rest of the state.

:-D "I’m running not to be a gay mayor, but a great mayor"

I dont get it... how exactly do amendments pass when places like these so clearly not care if hes gay, and implicitly endorse gay rights, no? Otherwise being openly gay and having a right conscience would be opposites, and ppl would certainly not have voted for him.

At any rate, this is good news.

I voted for Adams and am glad he won outright (no pointless general election run-off). Although Adams deserves LGBT support for his leadership in the community, I think his sexual orientation was a non-issue.

It should also be noted that Sho is a gay rights supporter and probably would have won major LGBT endorsements if Adams was not a candidate.

BTW, GDAD, the beer company that shares Adams' name lost some customers after it foolishly threatened to sue over his campaign's domain name.

And now they all get really good beer.

In all seriousness, this is excellent news. This kind of visibility will really help take some of the wind out of the sails of the people who try to keep us hidden.
