When this distinct and exceptional part of all human life is accused of being dangerous to society, why, when I point out that it takes only a small amount of people to do something tremendously violent and disruptive…

19 men to kill 3,000 individuals on 9/11 for example.

So, given the history of being repressed, isolated and threatened with casual violence, why haven’t gay people banded to together and become gangs to menace everyday people?

Why hasn’t there been a concerted effort to take up arms and take to the streets with weapons and the next person who looks sideways at someone they think is gay, this time might be the ones to fear for their safety-FOR REAL?

What I see is the gay folks, despite everything, still trying to come in peace, utilize due process, the court system and peaceful assembly to make their point. Have their voices heard, show the world they mean no harm and are ever so willing to commit to what is good for all.

And yet….this still isn’t enough for those who directly or indirectly think gay people are the harmful ones.

I live in LA and besides news items, bear witness to the most depraved behavior a human being can engage in.
And yet, the staunchest anti gay person thinks I’m ignorant about evil and sin for my support of gay people.
All of a sudden I’m fully in support as well of thieves, liars, murderers and prostitutes…and this, despite them knowing full well I work to fight thieves and murderers.

I defend nothing else but the lives and personhood of gay folks.
But, I’m considered the stupid one, the one lacking perspective-although I also mention my gender and color and say outright I empathize with those who are judged by what they are, it doesn’t matter.

These folks in India are indeed brave, peaceful souls. They are marching in the street, they are carrying signs and nothing more dangerous than a banner.
And yet, it’s they who could be confronted with anything from jeers to violence.
It’s they who are called the dangerous ones, the worthless ones.

Yes, the strangest of conundrums confronts us people. But looking at these two very attractive people in the street, I know deeply in my soul…who is the gift to mankind.
