I would hope that the father can not compel the 18 (age of majority) teen to go to any kind of Exodus nonsense. Of course, 18 is still a very vulnerable age.

The father, I hope, will be arrested and incarcerated for assault. The fact that it is "under investigation" doesn't fill me with confidence that the arrest will actually happen.

I hope there is a safe house somewhere this boy can go and live and finish school. And in the meantime, his father should be COURT ORDERED to PFLAG and other family support.

This is a belief motivated attack And PFLAG will heal this family and the father couldn't POSSIBLY want to be estranged for his own flesh and blood!
The father can change HIS ways more than his son can change being gay. So it's incumbent on the father to do so.

Of course a church would LOVE to put the onus on the boys. Which would be horribly wrong and unfair.
Exodus is absolutely the WORST recommendation a church could make. And if Alan Chambers or anyone from an ex gay group hears of this story, I hope they are not allowed anywhere NEAR this boy and his family to exploit this terrible situation. Can't the church see their hand in the message this father received?

They too obviously are part of the PROBLEM. Had the father ACCEPTED his son, and understood what homosexuality really is, this assault and family disruption wouldn't have happened in the first place.
