I don't understand how the Mormons can justify spending over 20 million dollars to pass Prop 8. Why do they care so much who I want to marry? I don't care about who they marry, and what they choose to do behind closed doors. I've learned recently that they are also polygymists - does that upset me? no, not at all, I think it's great if that's what they want, I could care less, it's their life, and as long as they are not hurting anyone, let them do as they please.

So now, all this money spent, on both sides of the battle, It makes no sense, do they think we're ever going to stop? We could have fed a small starving nation for the next 5 years with the money spent on prop 8. Wake up MORMONS!!

Future generations are going to look back at you the same way we look back and frown on slave owners, natzi's ,etc.

So i ask you to think about what you're doing here. You are wrong on so many different levels...

LDS ‘Yes on 8′ Game Plan

I’ve posted a letter sent from Boyd K. Packer on July 28th to the LDS stake presidents in California:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/19/224211/910/755/570793

Apparently, there is a plan in place to put up one million ‘Yes on 8′ yard signs at 7:00 am on September 22nd.

I’m not defending the Mormons but they are somewhat obligated to do what they are instructed by their Prophet and their leaders. There are some Mormons who don’t agree with this dictate from the LDS General Authorities but they are such a very minute minority in the Church. But in the minds of most Saints you are not to question the letter or its instructions. It is a commandment.

Maybe this would make a good catchphrase on a picket sign -- "Mindless Robots For Christ Support Prop 8", something likethat.

It’s perfectly legal for Mormons to do as the letter instructs. And as a point of clarification, not all Mormons wear white shirts and ties. They’re not THAT regimented. Only the 2x2 Missionaries dress in that ‘uniform’ and wear the black plastic name tags.

I haven’t heard from any of my family if they were read any letter in church yesterday. I know they probably are respectful of my feelings and would rather not talk about it. As it is so often with gay issues, it is a: Don’t ask and we won’t tell you.

Deep inside I would welcome some sort of a sit down conversation...over a non-caffeinated drink. I want to ask my family, my friends, my neighbors and my co-workers just what about me is so wrong that they feel they need some piece of legislation enacted.

I’m not a horrible person because I’m not able to attain their lofty goal of marrying some woman in the Temple. I have given up on that aspiration a long time ago. I just want to find some man who understands my quirks and foibles and maybe, just maybe, he would want to share a meaningful life together.

But, I would love to ask a few of my friends just how they feel wanting to deny me the same rights and privileges they enjoy. I want to sit across from them and I want to see the looks in their eyes when they try to rationalize what they are doing in the name of their Church.

What can we do to get the word out to the media that Mormons will be doing this walk? In some places people have been told not to go two by two or wear white shirts and ties, and not to tell people they are Mormon. I think it would be good to send letters to the editors of major papers telling about the Mormon canvassing. Better yet, if anyone knows any media people, maybe someone would like to do a story on this. I think the public has a right to know who is coming to their doors, and why.
