Gee, maybe this is inappropriate, but it strikes me as funny. If Cheney would actually stand up for marriage in spite of the President, could we say that Dick is sticking it to Bush?

I think the extreme, right wing faction of the Republican party was also behind why McCain chose Palin as his running mate. Word on the street was the McCain wanted Liberman, but the neocons would have nothing of that.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be the Cheney's. They're really up against the wall.

I wonder sometimes if Dick and Lynne would love to just say "YES, yes I support gay marriage, yes, I support my daughter being free from discrimination, hate crimes, and persecution, YES, YES, YES!!!!!"

but they're afraid it cross the wrong people in the GOP, so they've gotta constantly tap-dance on the line, carefully choosing words. No wonder they got all bent out of shape when Kerry mentioned Mary Cheney! I'm sure in private it's a Cheney-love fest (heather included, too!), but to the public they have to present some bizarre image that is pro-family without being pro-gay even though they have a lesbian daughter. I'd be irritable too if I had to twist my logic like that.
