I served in the Air Force while General McPeak was Air Force Chief of Staff. He was an empty uniform then who got where he did via politics and ass-kissing.

In my opinion, he's an empty suit now; hopefully Obama will move toward the center with his military advisor like he seems to be doing everywhere else.

thanks MattyMatt

I had a different tense to the sentence when first crafted. And somehow "misogynistic" became "misogynism" instead of "misogyny". Sigh. I"ve corrected it now.

General Merrill McPeak serves at the pleasure of the President. I think we should take a wait and see attitude towards any of the Obama appointees and nominations until he can take office.

With the operational military and Congress people reexamining the DADT law with an eye towards repeal, I think that Obama will have no trouble letting his advisor know exactly what kind of advice he is looking for.

As President, Obama can make up his own mind, and if he finds that McPeak's advice contradicts his judgement of what's best for the US Armed Services, I'm sure he will have no problem making that clear. If McPeak has a problem with that, he can get a job someplace else.

Obama does not strike me as one to long put up with flawed logic.

I'm kind of flabbergasted by "his position did not meet 'strict evidence standards for logic,' but that that did not raise doubts" ... doesn't that make him seem kind of, you know, unfit?

(PS: It's "misogyny." :)
