Hi Jim,
We saw the movie last night at the "Castro" theatre. It was moving, funny, and as an "old" SF resident it was beautiful to see some of my early history told before my eyes in a beautiful storyline that the documentaries can not tell.
I could not help but think how many movies Harvey and the early gang must have seen at the 'Castro". We have come so far to the credit of leaders like Harvey, and so far to go.
At the end you could only hear a few quiet tears flowing, until the theatre erupted in applause and cheers.
The movie is and Harvey remains a real inspiration. Bravo.

Saw the movie on Friday. Absolutely gorgeous film. Bravo to Van Sant who did an amazing job re-creating the atmosphere of the time and incorporating stock footage into the film and Penn's performance who embodies Harvey beautifully. It goes well beyond the documentary which will be a plus to those who have seen it. I will be very surprised if this isn't nominated for best picture.

Milk is currently a limited engagement. It releases nationwide on Friday, December 12th.

Currently it's getting a 93% critical consensus rating (the higher the better).

More info. at the Rotten Tomatoes website, my favorite for movie reviews.

Okay...I want to hear a review by someone who reads BTB! I won't worry about revealing a spoiler, I still will be going to see the movie.

But, tell us what YOU think about the movie.

(Or is it in limited release and nobody has seen it?)

The Washington Times movie critic never gives good reviews. Plus, that paper is owned by the Unification Church, from what I can remember.

Wow! There's actually a "Cinemark" theater here in Mesa, AZ

Cinemark Mesa 16
1051 N. Dobson Rd.
Mesa, AZ 85201

Recording:
1-800-FANDANGO Exp. Code 2127#
Office: 480-733-2843
Fax: 480-844-3986
Email: 366@cinemark.com

Interesting that it's on "Dobson" road. I wonder if it's named after a descendant or relative of James Dobson?

Anyway, I sure won't be watching Milk or ANY movies at this Cinemark theater!

Also, it seems that Tucson, AZ has 5 "Century" theaters that are owned by "Cinemark". So, I would advise ALL Tucsonans to not patronize any of these theaters:

Century Theatres At The Oro Valley Marketplace (12155 N. Oracle Road)
Century 20 El Con (3601 E. Broadway)
Century Park Place 20 (5870 E. Broadway Blvd.)
Century Park 16 (1055 W. Grant Rd.)
Century Gateway 12 (770 North Kolb)

Cineplex Odeon should still have some theaters open in Tucson.

In Phoenix, we have AMC and Harkins to choose from.

If you want to know if Cinemark owns any of the theaters in your area, just plug in your ZIP code on their own website and find out: http://www.cinemark.com/

Oh dear. My partner and I had hoped to see it at Tinseltown. I guess we'll have to wait for the DVD. :-(
