Thanks for the shout-out, Jim! I appreciate it.

When I visited Vatican City in 2003, I was convinced that their hall of statues was the gayest place I had ever been in my life. This, despite most of the artwork having been altered by order of Pope Clement XIII, who took it upon himself to restore dignity to the human form with fig leaves.

(Someone once said that if you have a problem with the human body, to please take it up with its creator. I guess not all Popes have heard that one.)

Anyway, thanks again! Just one small correction: The site name is "Slap Upside The Head," not "Slapped."

Serbia, Ukraine, FYR Macedonia and Cape Verde are perhaps not as unexpected as you might initially think. Cape Verde is historically & culturally (though not racially) more Portuguese than African and, like the other three, it wants to become an EU member state - it would not be the first EU state entirely outside Europe. Since the European Union (led by France) is the main driving force behind the resolution, and as this is one of the relatively few high-profile gestures the EU has made at the UN, it makes sense to align themselves with Brussels on the international stage.
