Hutcherson is a demogogue and con artist. God will have his retribution on him soon enough.

On Nov 30, on a Charisma forum thread about praying for Obama as President, a quote similar to yours of Matthew 25:34-40 was followed by this:

More than three years ago, a family kicked their son, a sophomore in high school, out of the house when they found out he was gay. The parents of a classmate of my older brother took him in and raised him as one of their own till he graduated from high school and headed out on his own.

Jesus asks in Matthew 7: 9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Which were true parents to this young gay boy, the ones who kicked him out on the street, or the ones who took him in? Obama wants to ensure that those who find themselves in this sexual minority are treated the same, under the law, as everyone else. Surely he knows what uncalled for discrimination against a minority is all about.

If there are earthly parents who will look after, not only their own children, but the child of their neighbors as well, how much greater is the love of God for all his children, the product of his varied creation, no matter how they are born? So, who is following Jesus' teaching for those citizens who are lesbian or gay by nature, Obama who is promoting equal treatment for all, or those of you who would treat our lesbian and gay neighbors like crap?

You may pray for Obama however you wish. As for me, I pray that he will follow Jesus' teachings and promote understanding for God's gay children and ensure they are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Not all Christians have forgotten what Jesus' Gospel teachings are all about.

Among other things, Hutcherson gets his theology about the cross wrong. Jesus didn't die to keep us off the cross but as an example and to show us the way to the Cross.

Nice piece, and nice follow-up. I don't know how these people can miss Jesus' radical message- God is Love, and what you do to other people, my beloved, you do to me.

Timothy, your previous article may be about attacks on Christianity, but I believe the true attack on Christianity is by people like Ken Hutcherson and James Dobson. These people espouse a faith system extremely un-Christ like, yet at the same time they attack more moderate believers -- those who truly try to follow what Christ taught -- as 'unchristian'.

"We’re supposed to give hands up, not hand outs..."

And that's exactly why Jesus made his followers pick up all the trash on the beach at the Sea of Gallilee before they could have any of the loaves or fishes.

Good luck finding that soul. He's repeatedly demonstrated that, like the Grinch, his soul is several sizes too small for his big mouth.
