El Rose: "Governments back male/female marriage because the MAJORITY of married heterosexuals do a pretty good job of raising kids."

The MAJORITY of homosexual couples with kids do a pretty good job of raising them, too. They also adopt a lot of kids who would otherwise be living in orphanages or foster care. The only difference is that those couples and their kids aren't afforded the legal protections of marriage.

"There will always be those who do evil things." And the point is, as you said, hold those who do the accountable. Don't misguidedly punish an entire class of citizens over some perceived danger that doesn't in fact exist.

I think the point is that homosexuals are less likely to abuse children than heteros are.

I think the point is clear:
Look at all those evil married heterosexuals that hurt children.

Take a breath. Any adult (and sadly, even a 12 yr old boy) who behaves in an inappropriatge way and/or commits a crime against a child, needs to be held acountable.

There will always be those who do evil things. The reason same sex marriage is not a good idea is because traditional marriage has been the foundation of our society (societies comes from producing and raising offspring) and best course for raising children. Governments back male/female marriage because the MAJORITY of married heterosexuals do a pretty good job of raising kids.

So, is this going to be a series, like "every child deserves a mother and a father" on SLOG?

I think I understand the point you're making, but perhaps its useful to make explicit what you're doing and why?

Are you highlighting married heterosexuals who endanger children? Or just documenting the worst failures of heterosexual marriage to encourage wholesome behaviour?

Is you point: they mess up all the time why can't we have a go, or: heterosexuals are bad for children too, or: heterosexuals abusing children are worse than gays abusing children, or what?

Like I said, I THINK I know what you're doing, but I also think it's open to misinterpretation.

Keep up the good work though, BTB is great.

This is a heinous story. I hope the children can get proper care from here on out. And I especially hope that the boy especially can learn appropriate behaviors and boundaries, that he is not stuck in this harmful way for the rest of his life.

Also, Pennsylvania is one of only twenty states where they haven’t yet “protected” marriage from the gays.
Correction: We have a DOMA law prohibiting gay marriages within the state. A constitutional amendment was defeated last Spring in the state assembly, which may be what you were thinking of.
