I love how in these "mob veto" naysayers' comments, and seemingly EVERY conservative's anti-gay diatribes for that matter, they have to bring up Hollywood. It's ALWAYS some dig at Hollywood and its supposed "promotion" of homosexuality.

I have to agree with them about that, since after all Ellen Degeneres has a talk show that, if you'd NEVER heard of her at all, you'd NEVER know she's an out and proud lesbian.

And you know, there's that in-your-face promotion going on in the daytime soaps, what with there being a gay couple, Luke and Noah, on As The World Turns, whose on-air kisses [as far as I know] can be counted on one hand, while their fellow hetero couples are depicted getting it on at all kinds of stages of undress. I mean it's like they're just SHOVING this gay stuff RIGHT in people's faces on this show.

And boy oh boy, you just can't escape that in-your-face pro-homosexual advertising in the music biz, what with recording artists like Rufus Wainwright, k.d. lang, and Ani DiFranco who are practically DOMINATING the Billboard music charts RIGHT NOW.

Oh and don't forget about how gay people are the DARLINGS of the late-night talk show circuit, where there is little-to-no mention of gay people that isn't a joke with a punchline that amounts to "So-And-So is gay, so they do this-and-that stereotypical behavior, HA HA HAAAAAAAA!!!"

And jeez Louise, all those transgendered characters who are regularly featured prominently on ALL the highest rated sitcoms on network TV right now, I mean it's like you can't turn the channel without seeing them!!! Sheesh!!

[BTW this is SARCASM about how the entertainment industry seems to still largely keep gays, bisexuals and transgendered people out of the sandbox, if the tone of any of my above statements didn't already make this apparent. :D]

I am glad several of these bigots are going on the record as opposing non-procreational sex. Shows their true colors on birth control.

To be consistent they should be in favor of annulling marriages of the sterile (whether voluntarily or not), and those past menopause.

Oh I forgot, they are hypocrites.

Theyre just desperately trying to reframe the debate about gay marriage. Apparently their claims that they are not bigots for opposing gay marriage is not doing well in focus groups anymore.

As Bugs Bunny says,'What a bunch of maroons.' Quoteing the late great Man on Dog Santorum, that's a winning path to success.

I just hope that while Obama is working to fix the economy and exit Iraq, he doesn't forget his promise to repeal DOMA.

Ron Sider insists on the right to publicly claim homosexuals defy God's law. He then infers that AIDS is a consequence of our (homosexuals') defiance of God's law.

But this doesn't make him a bigot, he insists. He has the right to feel this way, he says, without being called a bigot.

Bigot:

"Obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinions." [Oxford American.]

The phrase "a storm of sexual immorality" is really just fundamentalist closet-case slang for, "It's raining men!"

Darn, caught without an umbrella again.

Various churches (Catholic included) also once fully endorsed slavery as an acceptable, Christian practice justified (they claimed) by scripture. They were wrong about that then, Dr. King, and you're wrong about homosexuality now.

The following comment by Chuck Colson was my favorite:

"[T]he only way to slow it down is to change the terms of the debate: to once again establish that we are not lower than the animal species, that sex is not for recreation-it is for procreation."

I remember learning in biology class long ago that sex for recreation is one of the marks of an intelligent species because smart organisms are capable of getting bored and naturally seek amusement. What does that say about people like Colson?
