After her show, she came right over to our table, and kissed us both on the cheek. She gave ME a compliment which about left me speechless (imagine me speechless!), but I managed to say something that pleased her immensely.
I don’t remember what I said. But she threw her head back and laughed in such a way that endeared her even more.

She, like Tina Turner, was one of the dynamic black women I’d been a fan of my whole life. I find a lot of the new jack talent that’s everywhere, truly pale in comparison.

There is more exposure than real evidence of the ability to HOLD an audience without all the flashy special effects.

I’m one of those people that’s been blessed to witness the old school in action.
I’ve seen Ray Charles at the Hollywood Bowl. Ella at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with the Count Basie Band.

But the intimacy of the Catalina made the experience with Eartha Kitt the best one of all.

She will be missed. It seems so unfair that such a light should leave us, yet too soon.

I’m RARELY star struck. Almost never happens.
But at the Catalina…I was.
And as you all certainly know…for all right reasons.

BTW. Ms. Kitt was once engaged to Paris Hilton’s grandfather, Conrad Jr.
But the family rejected the marriage because of Ms. Kitt being black.

But had that marriage taken place, and Paris and Nicky were actually related to Ms. Kitt… The two of them might have actually inherited some real talent.
