I've never understood why anti-discrimination laws have set grounds. Surely any form of discrimination which is not relevant to the job at hand is wrong.

It is wrong to discriminate on the grounds of looks, unless you're running a modeling agency.

It is wrong to discriminate on the grounds of height, unless you're staffing a submarine.

It is wrong to discriminate on the grounds of race, unless you're the casting director for To Kill a Mockingbird.

It is wrong to discriminate on the grounds of sexuality unless you're ... doing what? Operating a brothel? I find it hard to think of any situation where sexuality is a relevant, and hence legitimate, basis for discrimination.

Good, I hope that hotel owner gets some charges of discrimination, even if they can't pin him for sexual orientation.
