Why no love for John Cavil?? (Kidding) Anders maybe, but not in a tank of goo. But I do think you're giving Leoben too little credit.

By the bye, I love the dorkiness of this thread. "Like Cylon polymer on a cracked bulkhead." HA! I really did titter out loud at that.

Not to open a whole new can of worms but if artificial intelligence progresses to the point that an android is capable of giving informed consent then they need to be given the same civil rights as humans. Otherwise you're just begging for trouble. If you think a bunch of gays in California caused trouble after prop 8 passed just imagine if they all had the strength of 10 gorillas and no remorse! The same civil rights would also apply to any other sentient being that comes to earth. Its only fair.

I guess I will have to call off my planned wedding to CP3O. Whoever sent that case of WD40, I need the receipt so I can return it to the AutoPlex.

Do these idiots not understand the legal concept of informed consent, or are they merely utterly dishonest?

Most of the robots that I have to talked to about this say they would not want to be stuck in a biology-based, religion-shaped institution, as they usually express contempt for both. Some say that 'computed' love cannot be captured by such a crude legal format, that they would rather start their own customs anew, and a few insist that it is not proper artificial intelligence which bends to the natural sort. All agree that they would never consider having a bio as a partner.
The process is at the start. You know how it works.
