"I had a boss at a well respected high-tech firm throw out resumes based on which names sounded gay."

Too bad he wasn't tested for mental retardation before HE was hired.

"It’s great that it didn’t pass, but that means 42% of the voters thought this was ok. That’s pretty scary if you ask me."

No, it doesn't necessarily mean they think it is "okay," only that these voters think it should be legal. I favor repealing ALL anti-discrimination laws as I support freedom of association.

BTW, does anyone here think an employee should be prohibited from quitting his job because he finds out his employer is gay? Isn't this something wrong that should be prohibited? Well, aside from the fact that it would be a form of slavery to force someone to work at a job they don't won't to work at... however, employers can be forced to keep employees on the payroll they don't want due to some curious logic.

How DARE those "activist voters" overturn their own will!? We certainly can't have unelected unaccountable voters deciding things! Who knows what that might lead to?

It's legistation like this that makes me worried for my very life. And it's also the very thing that makes me militant in my own corner of this chaotic universe. All I can say is thank you to the 58%!

I had a boss at a well respected high-tech firm throw out resumes based on which names sounded gay. It's good we're still protected if we have a job, but what about getting hired in the first place?

They probably will try to bring these amendments up in more places. I mean, Gainesville is a college town, and these sorts of things tend not to do well among the well-educated. Still, this is a pretty good blow to the Talibangelicals.

We dodged a BIG bullet. Had the anti-gay effort been successful, others could have started popping up across the country. Who am I kidding? I wouldn't be surprised if they are popping up anyway. You know the religious right.
