Amazing that the United States of America has become or is very near becoming a 3rd world, banana republic!

Well, we were for a long time a split country- a relatively Modern society in the northeast and on the west coast, and a pre-Modern agrarian one in the south and center. We’ve just ended a period of 30-40 years in which the latter was dominant.

We’re pretty good at picking ourselves up again as a country, historically. Give us five years and you’ll be astonished.

Amazing that the United States of America has become or is very near becoming a 3rd world, banana republic!

What’s even more amazing is that while most of the U.S. holds on to it’s legal prejudice and bigotry against gay people, many of the countries around us are embracing gay rights and are becoming better places because of it.

Yet, it’s the USA that’s crumbling and not the gay friendly countries.

How long will the Christian Taliban lies about gay civil rights leading to the destruction of our country continue in the face of the prosperity that gay friendly countries are experiencing!

Uruguay had to lift the ban. She needs all the troops she can get. The country led the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. You see, when a country has thousands and thousands of troops in two other countries that are half way around the world, it is only logical to let perfectly qualified individuals into its military.

Uruguay also has civil unions. An uruguayan friend of mine is VERY proud of that. He says everyone knows it’s marriage.

I’ve adopted the theory that the US is a crumbling empire, evidenced by a number of factors, among them the fact that we’re falling behind the rest of the world on numerous counts. China now has high-speed rail, and we don’t (Acela doesn’t go fast enough to be considered high-speed). Europe allows biosimilars, and we don’t. Uruguay allows openly gay people in its military, and we don’t.
