I think it does Christopher, I think we can see that people are becoming more accepting of gays and its less and less a problem for the general public.

I’d like to throw something out there for debate. Last night Keith Olbermann was discussing this and saying this was, essentially, the married, straight, Christian guy beating the gay guy. He seemed a little down about that.

And yet the American Idol elections aren’t as divisive as political elections, and it’s pretty darned impressive that Lambert came so close to winning. Does it say something about changing attitudes that he almost won?

Thanks,quo III. I guess my point was that who cares if an American Idol star is gay. I’ve never watched the show. (MAYBE I SHOULDN’T HAVE COMMENTED) Look at AJD’s post. It describes my attitude well. I’ve worked at the same place for 15 years. EVERYBODY who cares knows I’m gay. Most people don’t care.

The fact that an openly gay person can be a star is important to me and I hope all of us.

Although I couldn't care less about American Idol, Adam Lambert, and Lambert's sexuality, I love that this flies somewhat in the face of Randy Thomas' post on the subject.

I think perhaps you are confused. The winner of American Idol is Kris Allen. While Kris was Adam’s best friend in the competition and they were roommates, there is no indication that Kris is gay. He is, however, married which suggests that he’s probably straight.

Especially since so many gay people were getting upset that “the” gay guy actually came in second. Well, now you know both of the forerunners turned out to be gay.
