I was on the subway several weeks ago, and this Jamaican lady start singing out loud: "Me no like lesbian and me no like batty boy" over and over again whenever the train closed the doors after picking up passengers at a station. Times like these -- when radical social change (the first black president and gay rights advances) conspire with economic difficulty -- create the perfect environment for extremism. We should be watching our backs.
