DOS, along with another large agency, DHS, now provide a number of benefits to same-sex domestic partners (and their children) while serving overseas, which include housing, allowances, and travel, to name a few. However, DHS keeps families apart by not providing an immigration-related benefit for foreign-born partners so that they can live permanently with their partners and families upon return to the US. Also, although there may be positive moves in providing equal "access" to health care, that does not come with equal "cost" to the employee. Where's the meat to those old bones? Unfair treatment hurts our families!
