At least it is good to see legislators moving on another irrational law often justified by “threat to YOUR children!” fearmongering.
My personal preference would be to place marijuana and cannabis on the same legal footing as tobacco now is, and reserve prohibition for the truly dangerous and highly addictive substances such as heroin and government funding.

The more intelligent course would be to legalize hemp.

Its a wonderfully easy crop to grow, compared to almost any other legal cash crop grown by American farmers and offers a much higher net financial gain per acre.

Hemp will grow in many areas with little to no fertilizer, is bug resistant, drought tolerant and has a ready market around the world.

And hemp, although a cousin to marijuana, will not produce a buzz so legalizing hemp ought to be an easy sell even to the anti-drug crowd.

Hemp seeds are a wonderful health food and hemp products have been used around the world for hundreds of years.

Legalize Hemp Now!

Legalizing weed is now less dangerous for politicians to support than is marriage equality.

That’s CHANGE WE CAN BE…, er, , … Wait, what?
