If he resigns now and is replaced with another social conservative right now, Nevadans may elect the "new social conservative," completely forgetting the damage Ensign's votes have cost the LGBT community. However, IF he does not resign and more shit is discovered underneath his covers close to the election, that will be one less social bigot to deal with.
