Aren’t we all taught from earliest childhood that it’s not “nice” to hurt other people? That swine can’t blame alcohol for his crime.
Aren’t we all bound by an implied “social contract” that says I’ll respect your right to live if you’ll respect mine?
For all the controversy over the death penalty—that it’s either selectively enforced against racial minorities, or can be a miscarriage of justice when the wrong person is executed—some people really do deserve to be put to death.
One might show leniency in some crimes of passion or revenge, but anyone who kills for “fun” is a worthless piece of filth who has forfeited the right to live.

I suppose that in South Carolina, a person would get more jail time for killing a dog than a gay person.

I’d love to see a torch-wielding mob descend upon the offices of the killer’s defense attorney. Now I know he was doing his job and has a professional commitment not to ever bad-mouth his client no matter the outcome of the trial, and I’m even willing to let his comments that even the slap on the wrist was too draconian pass, but…claiming the killer had no idea his view was gay, DESPITE the plain and irrefutable facts of the case? Give us a damn break.
