As such, Tim Hortons can not provide support at the event." While I'm glad the corporate office was willing to make this statement, vague as it may be, it's still not clear what this means for the local franchise. The owner of the Rhode Island Tim Horton's might still be able to do whatever he/she wants. They didn’t exactly pull support, but the corporate office has issued a statement which you can read here:

Since, as the article notes, the corporate office doesn't have a real policy preventing this sort of thing they can always say "It's not our policy, but we can't stop it either". But this is definitely a good opportunity to vote with cash. Even if you're not anywhere near the Providence, Rhode Island location you can still send a message. Tell the corporate office that until they have a real policy banning such promotional efforts you won't enter any of their stores.
