What’s More Pathetic?

California Assemblyman Mike DuvalFormer California Assemblyman Mike Duvall, who resigned following revelations that he bragged to a fellow unidentified Assemblyman about a couple of dripping-wet affairs with women who were not his wife and one of whom might have been a lobbyist regulated by his committee, is now claiming that he didn’t have any affairs after all. In a strangely headlined statement on his web site — “Assemblyman Duvall Denies Reports that he Had Affair,” even though those “reports” came from his own mouth — the Orange County Republican writes:

“I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words. The resulting media coverage was proving to be an unneeded distraction to my colleagues and I resigned in the hope that my decision would allow them to return to the business of the state.”

Whether anyone believes any of this now is utterly beside the point. I mean think about it: what’s more pathetic? A “pro-family” anti-gay politician bragging to colleagues about all the juicy affairs he’s had? Or a “pro-family” anti-gay politician bragging to colleagues about all the juicy affairs he didn’t have?

He was just bragging so that he could be one of the boys, though their acceptance of his unethical and immoral behavior means that they are no better than he is.

Or, he just realized that the wife is going to take him to the cleaners, so he is denying the actual behavior in facor of the one-of-the-boys defense.

Either way, you want a slice of cheese with your sleaze?

good grief!

If he was innocent he would have denied it right away. I still wouldn’t believe him but he didn’t even deny it until later?!?!?!

I think Alec Baldwin should play him in the TV movie version.

I really, really hope that criminal charges and jailtime come out of this.

As a Californian, I have to believe that this is not an isolated event. It would be very interesting to find the two women, possibly give them immunity, and find out just how many votes are being bought in Sacramento by sexual or monetary favors.

I think it might have more to do with reports that he slept with a lobbyist than anything else. An affair is one thing, but violating laws … well traditional families don’t do well when daddy’s in jail.

“Family Values” California state assemblyman representing Orange County, Republican Michael D. Duvall, resigns for apparently not cheating on his wife. Well you have to take his word for it, or maybe believe that hypocrisy has been bred in. In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. He is just another name that can be added to the list of Republican 2009 summer of love: Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), SC Board of Ed Chair, Kristin Maguire.

Well, he should have thought about it. Now he is just playing the victim so the fellow values-minded people that voted for him can feel sorry of the big bad liberal media who invented all this and who doctored the video so they could bring him down.

Oh, come on. The guy is most likely just a crook, trading sexual favors for influence. When that part was threatening to come out and he was liable to be prosecuted, he changed his story. At least so far, the facts seem to suggest that. This should be thoroughly investigated, lurid details and all.

So, what else could it have been? Bed-wetting?

He looks like a cross between Alec Baldwin and Beau Bridges. Maybe if they had a love child…

The real pathetic person here is the woman who had sex with him…and didn’t get her money up-front!

It could be that these thirty something women could not resist the old guy with power, influence and in a position to get them the recognition, promotions and bosnues that they deserve. Take a good look at this man would they even take a second look if it were not for his position?

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

From the Inside: Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out”

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Daniel FettyThe FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.
