I think the point that hit me the most is how they used the word “ashamed” in there. Very powerful, I think.

I think it’s a great ad. We can’t be defensive by acknowlegding their lies. We have to face these anti-gay bigots head on with pride and move forward.

“No on 1″ is making the mistake of not pointing out the other side’s biases and affiliations. The average voter might think the “Yes” side is only worried about (their) families and churches. It needs to make them know that not only is “Yes on 1″ disrespectful to same-sex couples and their children, but also religions that DO support their marriages.

It’s great that they’re airing anything like this at all, though. This is so simple that it just angers me even more how No on 8 fell asleep at the wheel.

I like this one much better.

I still would like to hear them discredited in stronger terms (e.g. “but don’t be fooled by their deceptions, their spokeswoman isn’t really a public school teacher. No, she’s really an extremist political activist who works to get sectarian prayer in public schools, making abortion illegal, and …”). I’d like Mainers to know exactly who is behind this effort.

Remember, this ad is targeted to Maine voters, who have already seen the false claims this ad refers to in the Yes on 1 ads blanketing the state. I don’t think Maine viewers will be confused by this.

Alex- I think this one is stronger than the last one. It makes an important point about the other side trying to make kids and families feel ashamed. I agree about the “false claims” but we’re talking about 30 seconds here. Maybe that is coming next.
