I'm sorry I didn't look closely enough at the details, although I had a feeling there would probably be some differences between marriage and domestic partnerships in Nevada. I guess progress is still being made, though. Part of my point in my previous comment is that Nevada has a law on the books banning same-sex marriage. The fact that they're now granting some recognition to same-sex couples is a step, even if it's a small one.

Ooops. I retract the "nonsense". I was thinking of another state.

I would point out, however, that -- as in California -- there are some differences between marriage and DP laws, mostly regarding access to the status. For example, Nevada requires cohabitation for DPs. There is no cohabitation requirement for those seeking to marry.

I must have missed something. As I recall Nevada passed a law back in 2000 banning same-sex marriage. If they will allow same-sex couples to receive all the same rights without calling it "marriage", well, bully for them.

A joke I remember hearing back in 2000 was that Nevada has legalized gambling and prostitution, but they wouldn't want to allow same sex marriage because it would make the place seem sleazy.
