It’s disturbing that it was this close when it wasn’t even about marriage.

If you needed any more evidence that this is about hate and not about “protecting marriage” this is it.

Yesterday one of my students came to me for clarification on what was being voted on. She and her boyfriend thought that voting to approve 71 meant everyone who votes would have their name and vote published. I was really surprised. When I explained what the situation really was she immediately said she would vote to approve 71. Once again, it appears that tangential issues became central, and I don’t think organizers understood that.

Ugh. My one hope is that pro-71 ballots might be slower coming in since younger voters are notorious procrastinators (myself included.) But, ugh. Just ugh. Don’t make me ashamed of living here, Washington.

Worth noting that that’s only about 15% of all precincts, I think
