this is great news but nothing surprising really.

salt lake city has been a liberal and gay friendly enclave in the state for quite a long time now. the neighborhoods nearest temple square, especially so.

I think this is awesome! The Avenues is an excellent and beautiful place. It is Salt Lake City's biggest and oldest historic district. The homes, streets and the businesses scattered throughout this residential area, are very well kept Victorian originals. The trees and landscaping around most of these homes is absolutely beautiful. The historic Salt Lake City Cemetery is located on the hillside adjacent to the Avenues and is kept like a New England park. I love the Avenues. They also represent Salt Lake City's beautiful and once agrarian pioneer past. Capitol Hill is the area where I used to live and it is also a very beautiful and historic part of Salt Lake City as well.

I'm very grateful that we have Stan Penfold as the chief steward and representative of the Avenues and Capitol Hill. I'm sure he will do an excellent job.

Please don't get the idea that Stan is the only gay politician in Salt Lake City and in Utah.

I think the burr under the saddle of most Mormons is the "the gay" Senator Scott McCoy. (Remember what co-legislator Chris Buttars said about Scott?)

Watch for a very telling documentary about the Mormons and Proposition 8 coming soon.
