Senator Rubén Díaz Sr. wears his "No" vote proudly on his sleeve. In fact, he does not want the NY Senate to waste its time on gay marriage. As is always the case with hard-liners like him, he has gay 'friends' and 2 gay brothers.

A fascinating portrait, and one that's all too familiar for me personally growing up with people like this.

I am, like, roller coaster sick over this--excited and scared and elated all at once. I hope it happens. I hope the "pro-family" types don't all come out like so many cockroaches and force a vote "by the people," which never includes us. Movement's good, though. Thank you, Governor Paterson.

After Maine's disappointment, I need something like this. Having Gay Marriage in New York would cheer me up immensely.
