		<description>Despite known that this has been coming for years, I&#039;m continually surprised that it&#039;s actually even possible. My best friend is Portuguese, liberal, Theravadan, and yet she&#039;s not comfortable with the idea. It seems to me that if she has trouble getting her head round it, what&#039;s the chances of mainstream Portuguese voters supporting it? Yet they voted in a party that had marriage equality as a key part of it&#039;s manifesto.

The frustrating thing for me is that support for marriage equality is WAY higher in the UK than in Portugal, at around 61%, and yet we&#039;re unlikely to see any moves here for at least a decade.</description>
