Karger describes himself as a citizen advocate/activist. He has filed several requests for investigation of NOM and other PAC groups that are resisting financial disclosure.

Notice they went after Karger, and Karger only. What does that tell you? It tells me that Karger was dead-on right and they consider him a big enough threat that they decided to try and tie him up in legal proceedings.

In a related note: Fred Karger who filed a complaint against the Mormons is now being hassled by NOM (a Mormon front group?).

From an article in the Laguna Beach Independent:

Karger’s activism in September led to his entanglement in a federal lawsuit. He was served a subpoena by theNational Organization for Marriage, organized to oppose same-sex marriage in state legislatures, in its suit against top California state officials over public records.

Karger anticipated what he believes is retaliation. The subpoena compels him to produce a daunting amount of records for Californians Against Hate since January 2008. He retained Stevens, O’Connell and Jacobs to represent him.

It will be interesting to see what documents–if any–make it into the federal trial. LDS (Mormon) involvement against marriage equality for gays and lesbians is well documented.
