Tell GoDaddy To Remove Web Site Advocating Murder of LGBT Kenyans

Jim Burroway

March 12th, 2010

dkuria004We reported earlier that GoDaddy is hosting charged domestic terrorist Neil Horsley’s ProjectSEE web site, which is posting identifying information about LGBT Kenyans along with an exhortation to carry out the Levitical call to murder. That web site is also the source for several posters which are appearing in parts of Kenya with photos and other information about LGBT individuals there. Horsley has already been arrested for threatening Elton John in front of his condo in Atlanta.

After the New York office of the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) contacted Joe.My.God, who referred them to me for more information, amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost faxed the following letter to Bob Parson, CEO and founder of GoDaddy. We encourage you to contact GoDaddy yourself and demand that this web site be taken down.

Meanwhile, the Gay Activists Alliance International (GAAI) has reportedly contacted PayPal about Horsley’s fundraising account through their web site. I’m told but cannot confirm that PayPal has promised to investigate.

Dear Mr. Parsons,

I am writing to make a specific complaint regarding the website www.projectsee.com which is in clear violation of GoDaddy.com terms of service.

In section 5 under the heading “NO UNLAWFUL CONDUCT OR IMPROPER USE,” it states: “Except as set forth below, Go Daddy may also cancel Your use of the Services, after thirty (30) days, if You are using the Services, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion, in association with spam or morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will include, but not be limited to:

  • activities designed to defame, embarrass, harm, abuse, threaten, slander or harass third parties;
  • activities prohibited by the laws of the United States and/or foreign territories in which You conduct business;
  • activities designed to encourage unlawful behavior by others, such as hate crimes, terrorism and child pornography;
  • activities that are tortuous, vulgar, obscene, invasive of the privacy ofa third party, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable;
  • activities designed to impersonate the identity of a third party;
  • illegal access to other computers or networks (i.e., hacking);
  • distribution of Internet viruses or similar destructive activities;
  • activities designed to harm or use unethically minors in any way; and
  • activities associated with the sale or distribution of prescription medication without a valid prescription.

The website in question clearly shows the names, phone numbers, and emails of individuals whom the authors believe should be targeted in their home country of Kenya.

This very personal attack constitutes a direct threat to the safety and well-being of these individuals and is morally reprehensible. Were the individuals Americans, and targeted in the US, this would constitute a clear violation of US law. It is my sincere hope that Go Daddy will take immediate action to remove this website.

The proprietor of this website is one Neal Horsley. Mr. Horsley was arrested on March 10,2010 in Atlanta, Georgia for making a threat on the life of the entertainer Elton John.

The story can be found at:
http://www.rollingstone.com/ rockdaily/ index.php/ 2010/ 03/ 12/ georgia-man -arrested-for- threatening-elton-johns-life/.

It may sound hyperbolic to state, but people’s lives in Kenya are in immediate danger. Time is of the essence. Go Daddy must act with expedience if this injustice is to be rectified before it is too late. It is my sincere hope you will see fit to act immediately.

Sincerely,

[signed]
Kevin Robert Frost

I own a couple of sites through GoDaddy myself. I’ll get onto them and tell them what I think of them.

@Timothy :: Yes as a consultant I have a number of clients that manage all of their Domain Registrations using GoDaddy. I contacted them today – but word is that the powers that be @ GoDaddy are extremely fox news types – if you know what I mean.

I’ve been thinking of using GoDaddy to set up websites. What other sites can be recommended for setting up my new sites?

It’s also been suggested to ask search engines to remove them. And, as well as PayPal, GAAI have asked Yahoo to remove Project SEE.com’s services.

“It’s also been suggested to ask search engines to remove them,”

It would be great if the search engines removed (de-index is the term) ProjectSEE, but I am not sure that that is realistic. Search engines usually de-index a site for using abusive or fraudulent search optimization techniques, malware distribution or phishing. ProjectSEE is different from that, so I don’t know if the search engines would actually de-index them, but one could try.

I think what was meant was to contact the various firms (including search engines) that operate web parental controls or rating services to make sure that ProjectSEE is listed as a hate site and unsuitable-for-children site.

For example, most antivirus software has an optional setting that blocks sites unsuitable for children, hate sites, hacking sites, etc. To give a specific case, the “Parental Controls” option for Trend Micro Internet Security software by default excludes “Crime,” “Violence/hate/racism” and “cult.” So, the point would be to make sure that ProjectSEE gets on those lists of hate, crime and cult sites.

Search engines also have a user preference that filters out pornography, for example Google SafeSearch. This is different from de-indexing. I think it was suggested to get ProjectSEE listed as a hate site or unsuitable for children site on those type of filters operated by the search engines themselves. I don’t know for sure if this would work for non-pornography sites.

Also Internet Explorer and possibly other browsers, has a parental control option that also blocks certain sites.

ProjectSEE is a recent site, so I think the point is to make sure it gets on those lists of hate sites and unsuitable for children sites, for example.

Another suggestion that has been made is to not link to ProjectSee, which would increase their rank in search engine results unless you use the “no follow” tag.

It’s worth noting that the ProjectSEE website contains a letter of endorsement on it from convicted domestic terrorist Michael Bray.

Nothing seems to have come of it. I didn’t even get a response when I sent my message to the support team.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
