I tend to be skeptical of poll results until, as a previous commenter stated, the numbers -- in any direction -- reach 60 percent or higher. Success at the ballot box -- as opposed to results of a public or private poll -- is determined by the actual persons who vote. Fortunately, or unfortunately, certain groups of people tend to vote more often than not, and it is vital for LGBT groups to encourage a supportive voting bloc to not only state their voting intentions in a poll, but to actually show up and cast said supportive votes AT THE BOOTH.

When it gets above 60% I think you can work with it. Until then that 12% Yes/not so strongly, is probably those who feel like saying they are for marriage rights and yet would vote against them.

This is good, but we need to gain several percentage points before we have a good chance of winning at the polls. Public opinion tends to shift towards a don't-change-the-status-quo stance (a "NO" vote) during the course of a referendum campaign. In addition, one has to take into consideration the "gay Bradley effect."
