The bill in Liechtenstein is similar to the laws in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It introduces “Lebenspartnerschaften” (civil unions) with most of the rights and duties of married couples but some differences (no adoption, no artificial insemination, no common last name)

Where is the confusion. The article clearly states that they will be “de facto” unions which have the certain benefits of real marriages.

They are civil partnerships aka second class “marriages”.
