I find it interesting this story isn't on the Fox News site. Hmm.....wonder why. Maybe because it blows another hole in the ex-gay therapy works, and being gay is a choice argument.

In all seriousness, although it's fun to gloat when something like this happens, I think that "hypocrisy" is overhyped by our community.

Reker's anti-gay actions were, and always have been, evil. His behaviors would be just as evil coming from a straight man as coming from a closeted gay man.

It's not wrong to have sex with men. It's not wrong to travel with men, even younger men. I don't even personally believe it's wrong to pay another adult for sexual services, as long as everyone is aware of what they're doing. (Illegal, yes, but "wrong?" Not unless there's coercion.) So while it's fun (delicious, even) to make a big deal when a hypocrite like Rekers is caught with a man, there's the risk that the wrong message is sent. The attitude shouldn't be, "See? Even you got caught doing the bad thing that you criticize." The whole point is, "It was never a bad thing in the first place."

By the way, I really feel for the guy who was adopted at 16. He is in a very difficult position in this whole mess. It seems like he doesn't want to become part of this story. As long as he continues to feel that way, I do hope that his privacy is respected.

The really suspicious ones truely dedicate themselves to the anti-gay cause. While many right wingers are anti-gay, anti-welfare, anti-tax, pro-military budgets, and take strong positions on any number of issues, those who just seem fixated on their anti-gay cause stand out for the bizarre nature of their obsession. I just assume that all of them are gay, otherwise they would have lost interest long ago in the whole thing.
