Not typical, maybe, but not uncommon. Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy? Or — us. I was 52 when I met my 24 year old partner, 27 years ago. (He’d previously had an affair with an older gentleman in Paris who turned out to be a Jesuit priest.) All kinds of people are looking for one another, and sometimes finding.

Maybe Dr. George Rekers was actually doing research. Charting the various urges that have to be repressed, and also how long a heterosexual male can withstand the forced advances of a young virile professional gay male. I would love to see that expense account and the defense for it!

Maybe Dr. Rekers plans for Lucian were noble.

First, de-gayify him a la Ted Haggard. Second, Christianize him. Third, use him as an example of a happy straight man. There are way too many miserable looking ex-gays out there. Lucian would be a great poster boy for the movement…

As for the Lucien. For his height, he’s almost 50 lbs. underweight. I doubt he could lift a pillow, let alone a suitcase. Muscle definition is fine if there are actual muscles being defined. No thank you.
