The wierd thing is that no one would make a fuss about Reker’s secret life if he wasn’t so openly vocal against such things. Will the politicians never learn? Keep your mouth shut, and you can get away with almost anything!

The CNN spot is ridiculous. They go on about how the Florida AG said that Rekers was highly qualified. What about the Court’s ruling that his testimony was totally incredible? How about the fact that FRC doesn’t just “advocate for the traditional family” but also “actively campaigns against gay people generally.”

@PAUL: that’s exactly the problem, the truth of the story is not balanced, but journalists pretend it is.

There was no questioning of the factually incorrect responses or statements by NARTH, that indeed they and other ‘Focus on the Family’ groups knew and lauded what he was doing as recently as 2 weeks ago. No follow up questions.

Every news story is not a battle of 2 equally weighted ‘opinions’. There is also truth, and there are also facts. This is one of the most serious problems in journalism today.

No person in his right state of mind would believe that Rekers rents an escort boy to carry his luggage. It is proof again of the fact that those who cry out the loudest against gay and lesbian people are the ones having issues, not the gays and lesbians. The ones that need treatment, are the prejudiced against gays and lesbians, not the gays and lesbians!

Brian – don’t forgot Anderson Cooper is a news anchor, and as such must try to present an unbiased story. Rachel Maddow, on the other hand, is a political commentator who as such can present her opinions and views. If CNN news anchors started showing blatant biases, they would be … well … just like Fox News. :-)

Yes, but I’m DEEPLY dissappointed with Cooper’s report. What is he playing at, giving the last word to the reparative philosophy? Rachel Maddow’s report and editorial MUCH more to the point. She casts a stronger light on exactly HOW HEINOUS Rekers’ behavior is and why it is so utterly contemptible.

A little disappointing in that CNN did not ask they key question: what is an anti-gay cristrian crusader doing ‘renting’ a boy for an escort service……? Implied, I’m sure, but it would have been better to go beyond the ‘facts’ and explore, with Rekers and/or his associates, why the shady arrangement.

So, now I’m wondering, has anyone contact family members? Is Rekers married? What do his sons think about all this?
