That statistic is a lie. There are plenty of people who remain in the SBC who don't necessarily believe that homosexuality is a sin.

Yes, if you disagree they find a way to get rid of you, to effectively cancel your membership in the convention by cancelling your home church's membership in the convention. Whenver pastors or lay members speak out about what is wrong with the SBC, they kick you out.

I do know many of the pastors, being a former SBC pastor myself, who do not believe that homosexuality is a sin, but they won't be speaking out about it, beause they would lose their job, or their church would be kicked out of the convention if they did.

I left the SBC after my divorce (they don't like divorced pastors either) and went to Metropolitan Community Churches and came out at the same time. I'm very happy being able to speak out clearly and loudly about God's love and acceptance of everyone, even Queer people. I pray others will make the journey of faith to the place where they, too, can speak out honestly without fear of reprisal.

Wait a minute. Is he claiming that the Southern Baptist Church has been/is becoming too darn nice to the homa-sek-shuls?

It's a real shame that this will be a very effective movement within the largest protestant denomination in the country which is already the most anti-gay in the country.

Let's not forget that this denomination separated from the larger Baptist denomination based on their support for the traditional institution of slavery. Yet somehow they have maintained credibility and have become a major political force in the country.

<blockquote>
Except… duh. They only have 100% agreement because they kick out anyone who doesn’t agree.
</blockquote>
Exactly what came to mind when I read that. This should be funny, but it's not.
